In August 2020 I wrote: And as the days blend together, we continue to adjust to a new way of life in lock-down, and life goes by like a long-lost memory amid a rapidly changing and confusing news cycle. And we’re still in lock-down and the news cycle continues to confound us as circumstances quickly change.
In the same article I quoted Dr. Mary Trump—author of Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World's Most Dangerous Man—saying that Donald Trump is a product of a scornful and unaffectionate father. By limiting Donald's access to his own feelings and rendering many of them unacceptable, Fred perverted his son’s perception of the world and damaged his ability to live in it. I wish none of this were true.
Instead, Donald Trump today has proven to be the world’s most dangerous man. Under his commanding words, the politicization of the pandemic crossed over, and his white supremacist supporters became a mob of belligerent insurrectionists—many of them unmasked—swarming into the halls of the highest office in Washington in a take-over effort to overturn President-Elect Joe Biden’s lawful presidency.
And more cracks in the system became visible. There was no public force to speak of defending our democracy. This was a far cry from the unwarranted violence exerted on Black Lives Matter demonstrators who, not too long ago, took to the streets to peacefully point out social inequalities in our country.
Human history is an ongoing narrative of the fundamental violations against the dignity of indigenous, black, brown, and white low-income people. Behind it all, painfully and sadly, is the evil of the division we have created, spread and lived with since our beginnings.
My experience shared in Uprooting Fear-The Heart’s Accidental Journey to the Divine agrees with Mary Trump’s assertion. We are all a product of the unprocessed emotions resting in our heart, from our present lives or intergenerational trauma. And if we really have had enough ugliness, pain, and suffering, then we are ready to grapple with the content of our heart.
Just like Arnold Schwarzenegger did by sharing about the most painful memory of his childhood, we all must find our way to face the fear of the negatively loaded emotional charges embedded in our heart (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vAWvl-g_6rg). This is the only way to heal it and empower ourselves to be fully present in body, mind, and spirit choosing the best in ourselves to be and do in our private and public lives.
I wrote before: No one can do this work for Donald Trump, and by the same token, the presidency is not a place for him to do this work—as it shouldn’t be for anyone holding a public office. Human history is plagued with similar stories of others, none which has ended well. He has to learn this lesson for and by himself unfettered forever by the burden of the White House or any other public office.
Like in the great Jupiter and Saturn recent conjunction, the heart and mind coming closer together can shine their united celestial light upon our thoughts and actions. This can give us a gentler human experience. Only an open fluid heart and mind can fully derive this from our nature.
P.S.: The photo album below is my New Year's offering to you dear friends. It is accompanied by my wish that 2021 illuminates our mind to contemplate the content of our heart-that is for it to become free of fear of our emotions to become conscious instruments for the flow of the life giving energy-love-that moves us.
My 2020 lock down year unfolded drinking of nature's eternal seasonal nectar and continuing to heal more of the conditioned, unhealthy and mostly unnecessary wants and desires of the body-and the mind-and the negative emotions they evoke. All the photos are from around my home, neighborhood and from distances between 2 and 5 hours drive from home.
